The No. 1-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team collected its second 4-0 victory in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NAIA Indoor National Championships, sweeping Tennessee Wesleyan University in Saturday's semifinal round in Overland Park, Kansas.

The Grizzlies (3-0), the tournament's top seed, received two dominant performances in doubles to grab the early 1-0 advantage in the match. Seniors
Stephanie Fernandez and
Iryna Lysykh defeated Olivia Alcala and Laia Berne 6-2 on the No. 1 court. Then, juniors
Justine Lespes and
Carol Mora scored a 6-3 triumph in the No. 2 match to clinch the doubles point.
GGC maintained the positive momentum against the No. 4 seed Bulldogs as Mora won by identical 6-1 set scores at No. 6 singles.
Lespes, the NAIA's No. 1-ranked singles player, won 12 of the 13 games against Alcala on the No. 1 court for the team's third point of the match. Senior
Teodora Jovic sent the team to the championship match behind a convincing 6-0, 6-0 triumph against Mercedes Chasset on the No. 3 court.

Georgia Gwinnett College advances to face No. 3 seed Xavier University (Louisiana) for the title on Sunday, February 4, starting at 7:30 p.m.
"Our women took care of business today. The seniors are leading this team with experience, and it once again showed out there today. It was a really strong performance overall. We're looking forward to tomorrow's championship match," said Head Coach

Georgia Gwinnett College is scheduled to face No. 3 seed Xavier University (Louisiana) in the championship match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NAIA Indoor National Championship on Sunday, February 4, starting at 7:30 p.m. Xavier defeated No. 2 seed Southeastern University (Florida) by a 4-2 score in the other semifinal match.
