Marian University (Indiana) scored four runs with two outs in the first inning to defeat the Georgia Gwinnett College softball team 6-0 Monday afternoon, ending the team's successful 2023 season at the NAIA World Series in Columbus, Georgia.
Marian (52-8) took advantage of two errors to plate the first two runs of the opening frame. Back-to-back RBI singles from Grace Meyer and Savannah Baker gave the Knights a 4-0 advantage.
Anna Pritchett would add a run-scoring single during the second inning.
The Knights outhit the Grizzlies (45-12) by a 7-3 margin in the contest.

Sydney Pelaez collected one of those hits with a single to center field in the sixth inning.
Sophomore
Lindzie Owen hit a single to right field in the top of the first inning. She later successfully stole her 55th base of the season, but was left stranded in scoring position.

Angelica Gallegos had a two-out infield single during the seventh inning.

Annalise Wood struck out six batters across four innings in relief. She concluded her 2023 season with a school-record 294 strikeouts.
Georgia Gwinnett College advanced to its third NAIA World Series in program history and first appearance since the 2019 season.
