The Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team hit four home runs and nearly rallied from a 10-run deficit before losing 11-10 against Indiana Wesleyan University on Monday morning to conclude the 2023 season at the Avista NAIA World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho.
Indiana Wesleyan (41-19-1) hit a pair of three-run home runs during a seven-run second inning in building an early 10-0 advantage.

GGC (50-8) got half of those runs back in the fourth inning with a pair of long balls. Sophomore
Caden Smith connected on a three-run home run to right field. That came after sophomore
Braxton Meguiar hit a run-scoring single. Junior
Devin Warner added a solo home run to right field to cap the team's productive inning.
Smith ended up hitting three home runs during this year's World Series.
Junior
Ajay Sczepkowski hit a solo home run in the fifth inning to bring the Grizzlies within 10-6.
Sophomore reliever
Ben Weber kept GGC in the contest by striking out six batters and scattering three hits across 5.2 innings.
The team's rally continued by plating three runs in the top of the eighth inning, closing the gap to 10-9. Junior
Cohen Wilbanks lined an RBI double down the right-field line. Warner followed with an infield RBI single before sophomore
Brody Parkerson hit a sacrifice fly to bring home senior
Ryan Hunt and cut the deficit to one run.
However, Indiana Wesleyan got a key insurance run in the bottom of the eighth with a sacrifice fly by Colby Jenkins.
Sczepkowski hit his second solo homer of the game to once again close the gap to within a run, 11-10. However, Indiana Wesleyan relief pitcher Jake Engelkes got a double play to end the contest and the Grizzlies' season.
Sczepkowski hit three home runs at the World Series for his 33rd round tripper of a record-setting campaign. He established single-season school-records for home runs and 102 RBI. Sczepkowski collected nine multiple home run games and batted .421, with 90 hits and 95 runs scored.
Georgia Gwinnett College advanced to its sixth Avista NAIA World Series in program history.
