Men’s Soccer Drops Senior Day Match

Seniors Odin Solheim and Khaled Qasum each found the back of the net as part of Senior Day, but No. 11-ranked Bethel University (Tennessee) left the Grizzly Soccer Complex with a 5-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Solheim quickly gave the hosts a 1-0 lead during the fifth minute with his fourth goal of the 2023 season. He volleyed the ball inside the left post off a crossing pass from senior Diego Milessi.

Bethel (12-2-1) responded in a big way with back-to-back goals by Adrian Musubi in the 18th and 24th minutes to grab a 2-1 lead. Later, Gregory Cousins tallied his 10th goal of the season to give the visitors a 3-1 halftime advantage.

Qasum brought the Grizzlies (5-7-4) within a goal, at 3-2 in the 53rd minute, with his first career tally. The midfielder drilled a shot into the upper left corner of the goal from the top of the opposing 18-yard box.

However, Bethel answered with goals by Hubert Oduya Kompany in the 66th minute and Pablo Ramirez in the 83rd minute to secure the victory.

The Wildcats outshot the Grizzlies by a 13-10 margin, including an 8-5 edge during the second half. Half of GGC's 10 shots were on goal in the match. The team had seven corner kicks on Saturday.
