Despite outshooting the opposition by a commanding 14-4 margin and registering seven corner kicks, the Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team battled LSU Shreveport to a scoreless draw across 90 minutes Monday morning at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
This was the third draw in five matches for the Grizzlies (2-0-3), with Monday's 0-0 score line being the second scoreless match during this early season stretch. GGC battled No. 19 Truett-McConnell University (Georgia) to a scoreless draw on August 27.
The shutout was the team's third of the season.
Nine of GGC's 14 shots came during the first half, when the team clearly dominated play on the pitch. That was certainly the case early when the Grizzlies had three shots and two corner kicks in the opening seven minutes.
LSU Shreveport (3-0-1) goalkeeper Carlota Alcalde withstood GGC's early offensive barrage to have seven saves and record the shutout.
