The middle of the Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team's singles lineup produced key points as the Grizzlies and Cardinal Stritch University (Wisconsin) resumed their match Wednesday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.
GGC (14-0), enjoying a 1-0 lead before rain suspended play on Tuesday, came back to record victories on the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 courts to clinch the dual match victory – the 161st straight for the program.
The team won all three of its matches at the GGC Spring Invitational.
Sophomore
Alex Gurmendi won all 12 games in his No. 2 singles match and senior
Agustin Tamagnone picked up a 6-2, 6-0 triumph on the No. 3 court.
Then, senior
Valentino Caratini tied the program's career singles victory record with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. His 77 victories match the achievement by Mika Kosonen, who starred for the program from 2018-20.

In Tuesday's doubles play, the Caratini-Tamagnone tandem clinched the point with a 6-3 victory on the No. 1 court. That came after senior
Vicente Lagos and freshman
Guilhem Perez Le Tiec won all six games at No. 3 doubles. Senior
Daniel Czepielewski and junior
Matthias Haim won a hard-fought No. 2 doubles match, picking up a 7-3 victory in a tiebreaker.
Georgia Gwinnett College is scheduled to host No. 15 San Diego Christian College (California) on Thursday, March 11, at the GGC Tennis Facility, starting at 1 p.m.
