Competitive Fire

The Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale 2-1 Sunday afternoon in a competitive match at Middle Georgia State University in Cochran, Georgia. It was a contest in which all three goals were scored in the second half.

Junior Kyara Armenta tied the match, 1-1, in the 55th minute when she found the back of the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Freshman Kendra Davis delivered a crossing pass from the right side of the field to connect with Armenta, who was about 10 yards away from the opposing goal.

Armenta's goal came three minutes after Middle Georgia State (9-6-2) scored the first goal of the match following a corner kick. A collection of headers following Hannah Theriault's corner kick got the ball from Louise Rosager to Ellie Richings, who placed the ball into the GGC net.

The Knights took a 2-1 lead in the 62nd minute on a goal from Theriault after a free kick by Katie Roberts.
