The Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team and three of its players were featured prominently among NAIA statistical categories during Head Coach Jeremy Sheetinger's first season in the Grizzlies' dugout.

Senior pitcher Hunter Peck led the nation with a perfect 0.00 earned run average, while ranking fourth in the NAIA in opposing batting average (.109). The left-hander had a 4-0 record for the season, with three complete games and two shutouts. Peck struck out 56 opposing hitters and allowed just two walks within 38 innings on the GGC mound.

Freshman Alex Cook topped the NAIA with nine saves, which stood second in GGC's single-season record book. The right-hander recorded 22 strikeouts in 10.2 innings and allowed just one hit for the season. Opposing batters were limited to a .032 batting average.

Cook's first save came in the season-opening series at No. 4-ranked Southeastern University (Fla.). He also registered a save in GGC's win over top-ranked and defending NAIA champion Tennessee Wesleyan University.

Junior outfielder Cord Johnson led the NAIA with a 1.000 fielding percentage in 49 putouts. He also had two assists from the center field position.

Other Georgia Gwinnett College players ranking among the top 10 nationally were senior Gabe Austin with 13 doubles, being third nationally; junior Myles Smith with .818 steals per game, eighth, and 18 steals, 10th; and junior Matt Hunt with five pitching wins, ranking ninth.

Collectively, the Grizzlies stood within the top 10 in four statistical categories: steals per game, 3.720, ranking third; opposing batting average, .212, fifth; earned run average, 2.960, sixth; and strikeouts, 223, 10th. Offensively, the team recorded 223 doubles to rank 14th nationally and had eight triples, which stood 15th among NAIA teams.

GGC posted a 23-2 record and won its last 22 games, marking the second longest winning streak in program history. The team was ranked No. 3 in the NAIA Top 25 poll.
