Two stellar seasons as a first-team NAIA All-American have paved the way for Georgia Gwinnett College sophomore second baseman
Cam Coursey to be selected Wednesday by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 13th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft.

The Sugar Hill, Ga., native was the 392nd pick in the draft – the second highest drafted player in GGC history – and becomes the eighth player to be drafted in the program's seven-year history. Josh Merrigan was a 10th-round selection in the 2016 draft.
"Our GGC family is so happy for Cam and his family. Cam has worked hard on and off the field, while leading his teammates to back-to-back NAIA World Series appearances in 2018 and 2019," said Head Coach
Brad Stromdahl. "His impact on the Georgia Gwinnett College baseball program and our entire organization will be felt for years to come. We are grateful to him for helping continue to elevate our program nationally. We wish him the best in his new venture and look forward to watching him play great baseball in the future."
The second baseman was named to the Golden Spikes Preseason Watch List by USA Baseball as one of the top amateur players in the country. Coursey led the Grizzlies in 2019 with a .458 batting average, 104 hits, 66 runs and 63 RBI.

Coursey was twice named the Association of Independent Institutions Player of the Year. He had a .470 batting average and collected 198 hits, including 28 doubles and 14 triples, and had 112 RBI in 118 games during his two seasons in Lawrenceville.
