A battle of Atlanta area collegiate women's tennis powers went in favor of Georgia Gwinnett College with a 7-2 victory at Emory University on Wednesday afternoon in the capital city.
The Grizzlies (14-1) are ranked No. 1 as the defending NAIA national champions, while Emory (14-3) is No. 1 in NCAA Division III after winning the division's 2019 indoor national title.

Madeline Bosnjak recorded an 8-2 victory on the No. 1 court.
Seniors
Henar Munoz and
Maria Prados Cid partnered for an 8-7 win for the decisive point on the No. 2 court. That victory would determine which team would an advantage going into singles action.
Bosnjak, the No. 1 ranked player in the NAIA, earned a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles to give GGC a 3-1 lead. Munoz posted a 7-5, 6-4 triumph on the No. 3 court for a 4-1 advantage. Then, freshman
Tereza Koplova registered a 6-2, 7-6 (5) win at No. 6 singles for the team's match-clinching point.

Rounding out the day's play, Able won a third-set 6-2 to rally at No. 2 singles. She won the second set 6-2 to force the deciding set. Prados Cid also picked up a three-set victory at No. 5 singles after splitting tiebreakers in the first two sets.
GGC has only two more regular-season matches before preparing for the NAIA national championships in May.
