Sunday Sweep

The winning ways continued for the Georgia Gwinnett College women's tennis team with a pair of 7-0 and 4-1 victories Sunday against NCAA Division II University of Montevallo (Ala.) at the GGC Tennis Facility.

GGC (10-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the morning match by winning the doubles point. Junior Emerald Able and sophomore Madeline Bosnjak won all six games at the top of the lineup. Then, juniors Chiara Rebecchi and Debora Scurt teamed for a 6-2 victory on the No. 3 court. Senior Maria Prados Cid and freshman Tereza Koplova won by a 6-4 score at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Bosnjak won all 12 games on the No. 1 court for the team's second point of the match. Able picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles before Rebecchi sealed the match victory with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph on the No. 6 court.
Koplova won by identical 6-1 set scores at No. 5 singles before Prados Cid and senior Gabrielle Robinson recorded straight-set victories on the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, respectively.

1745In the day's second match, the Grizzlies won the doubles point following victories from Bosnjak and Able by a 6-0 score on the No. 1 court and Rebecchi and Robinson 6-2 on the No. 3 court. The Koplova-Prados Cid team rounded out the winners with a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

The Grizzlies took a 2-0 lead after a 6-2, 6-0 victory by Able on the No. 1 court. Bosnjak won all 12 games at No. 2 singles to extend GGC's lead to 3-0.

Montevallo got on the scoreboard with a three-set win at No. 6 singles before Koplova clinched the team victory with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph on the No. 5 court.
