The top-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College men's tennis team collected its first sweep of the 2019 season, defeating No. 14 Union College (Ky.) 9-0 on Friday afternoon in the opening match of the Grizzly Invitational at the GGC Tennis Facility.
The Grizzlies (2-0) got off to a fast start with 8-1 and 8-2 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts. On the No. 1 court, senior
Ayed Zatar and sophomore
Valentino Caratini won eight of the nine games to grab the first doubles point. Senior
Rafael Coutinho and junior
Federico Herrera Duran were victorious on the No. 2 court, while junior
Gregor Hutterer and sophomore
Federico Bonacia were an 8-5 winner at No. 3 doubles.
Freshman
Jose Dugo improved to 2-0 in singles action this spring, winning by identical 6-1 set scores on the No. 5 court. Zatar clinched the match victory behind at 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles.

Junior
Mika Kosonen won his second singles match of the spring season by winning 12 of the 15 games at No. 6 singles. Herrera Duran (No. 1), Bonacia (No. 3) and Coutinho (No. 4) recorded straight-set wins to round out the singles action.
GGC has now won 84 straight matches, extending the nation's longest active winning streak in all of intercollegiate sports.
