Box Score 2 The No. 2-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team opened May with a pair of victories, defeating Fisher College (Mass.) 18-0 and 9-7 in doubleheader action Tuesday afternoon from the Grizzly Baseball Complex that ended the regular season.
The Grizzlies (43-8) head into this weekend's Association of Independent Institutions Baseball Championship on a 17-game winning streak, the second longest in program history.
GGC scored early and often in the opener, tallying six runs in the first inning and adding three more runs one inning later.
Then, the hosts rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to win the nightcap. The team scored four times in the second inning and took the lead on a bases-loaded walk to freshman Nick Barnes in the bottom of the fifth frame.
Freshman Walter Coursey collected two hits in the opener and senior Marcus McCorkle went 2-for-2 with two run scored – two of five Georgia Gwinnett College players to collect two of more hits among the 15-hit attack.
Freshman Cord Johnson went 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored in the second game. Senior Chris Jonesadded two RBI and a base hit.
Junior pitcher Jonathan McKinney picked up the victory in the first game, while senior Nick Andrews tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief to record the win on the mound in the second contest. Senior Taylor Folsom had a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save.

GGC took its first lead of the nightcap in the fifth inning on a bases-loaded walk to freshman Nick Barnes. The Grizzlies chipped away at an early deficit after Fisher tallied five runs in the first inning. The hosts got four runs back in the second inning and tied the game in the fourth inning.
