Baseball Wins Ninth Straight Game

Box Score

The No. 2-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball spread across 13 hits to score runs in five of the seven innings during a 14-0 road victory in a matchup against No. 19 William Carey University Tuesday evening.

GGC (35-8) extended its winning streak to nine straight games.

The team scored two runs in each of the second and third innings to grab an early 4-0 lead. A run-scoring single by senior Marcus McCorkle in the fourth inning pushed the advantage to five runs.

Then, the visitors broke the game open behind a seven-run fifth inning. Juniors C.J. Ballard and Onassis Matosconnected on run-scoring singles and fielding errors by William Carey would allow an additional run to score on each play.

Junior Gregory Loukinen went the distance on the mound, registering 10 strikeouts, for his second straight shutout – on the same day he was named the NAIA National Pitcher of the Week for his no-hit effort at Reinhardt University April 9. This time left hander scattered three hits to improve to 4-1 on the season.
