Box Score A three-run seventh inning fueled another come-from-behind victory for the No. 12-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team Wednesday afternoon at the Grizzly Baseball Complex. This time the rally came in a 10-8 win against No. 13 Tennessee Wesleyan University.
GGC (12-1) has won seven straight games and posted nine victories over a nationally ranked opponent.
Senior Ryan Lark drove in three runs, including a solo home run in the sixth inning. He also had a sacrifice fly that started the key seventh-inning rally. Junior C.J. Ballard followed with a two-run triple down the right field line to give the hosts the lead for good, 9-8.
The Grizzlies have won six games this spring when trailing an opponent in the sixth inning.
Ballard was one of four batters to collect multiple hits Wednesday. He scored three times from the leadoff spot in the Georgia Gwinnett College batting lineup.
Turning Point
Trailing by a run late in the game, junior C.J. Ballard delivered a clutch two-run triple down the right field line to give GGC a 9-8 lead in the seventh inning. Tennessee Wesleyan had taken the lead after scoring three runs in the top half of the seventh. That's when the first three batters reached safely for the Grizzlies. A sacrifice fly by senior Ryan Lark cut the deficit to 8-7. Then, Ballard hit a ball that hopped over the first base bag and into the right field corner. It allowed senior Tony Salvaggio and junior Jordan Tylski to score.
