Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Primed for Postseason

The Georgia Gwinnett College men's soccer team will take a five-match winning streak into postseason play following a 1-0 victory against Montreat College (N.C.) on Monday evening at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

GGC (9-5-1) found the back of the net for the match's lone goal in the 54th match on a shot from freshman Omar Thali. Sophomores Toni Tiente and Michael Weber set up the scoring chance near the 18-yard box.

Thali's third goal of the season came early in the second half. He has recorded two game-winning goals this fall.
The G
rizzlies enjoyed a 13-to-4 shot advantage, including a 7-to-1 edge in the second half. Tiente led the team with five shots.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matija Gligorovic stopped one shot in recording his fourth shutout of the season. Five of GGC nine victories this fall have come through shutouts.

The Grizzlies will take the five-match winning streak into the Association of Independent Institutions' Men's Soccer Championships, being hosted at the Grizzly Soccer Complex on Nov. 9-10.

"It was a good performance. We started well and possessed the ball well, and I'm very pleased with that aspect of our play. Omar doesn't need much space to score. We have put together consistent performances. Our transition defense has been much better," said Head Coach Steve DeCou.

Turning Point
The Grizzlies were searching for the important first goal of the match. All six of the team's first-half shots weren't on goal. The first shot on goal eventually came in the 54th minute when freshman Omar Thali drilled a shot from inside the 18-yard box past Montreat's goalkeeper.
