The No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett baseball team's eight-game winning streak was snapped on Sunday afternoon as the Grizzlies were edged by No. 6 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in the series finale 6-5.

While the Grizzlies dropped Sunday's contest, they still captured the series win, picking up victories in Friday's and Saturday's contests.

"We're learning and growing each time out," stated GGC head coach Brad Stromdahl.  "This weekend was a step in the right direction, and I like where our team is headed.  We just have to take care of the little things along the way."

The Grizzlies (9-4) scored first in the opening inning when designated hitter Brandon Frazier walked with the bases loaded.

Lindsey Wilson (2-7) would tie the game at 1-1 with an RBI-single by catcher Spencer Wise in the second, but the Grizzlies, once again, gained the lead with a two-run single to right-center by second baseman Marcus McCorkle in the bottom of the second.

Up 3-1, the Grizzlies surrendered a run in the third on a sacrifice fly by LWC's Connor Anderson to make it 3-2.

McCorkle drove in his third run of the game with an RBI-single to left in the bottom of the fourth, pushing the Grizzlies' gap to 4-2.

While GGC would plate its fifth and final run of the contest in the fifth inning on an RBI-single by first baseman Brady Hamilton for the 5-3 lead, the Blue Raiders would rally to tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the eighth with an RBI-single by Ben Giland and GGC throwing error.

Lindsey Wilson scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth on an infield bunt single by Wise, sending the Blue Raiders to the 6-5 victory.

LWC's Steve Colella received the victory, striking out three batters in four innings of relief.  GGC's Trevor Bradley received the loss, surrendering the Blue Raiders' game-winning run in the ninth.

Next up, the Grizzlies will face No. 4 Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday, Feb. 22.  Georgia Gwinnett leads the all-time series against the Bulldogs 3-2.  In 2016, GGC split the season series with Tennessee Wesleyan, winning 5-1 in Lawrenceville on Feb. 17 while losing 13-8 in Athens, Tenn., on April 5.

GGC sits at 199 program victories and could reach the 200-win milestone with a victory over the fourth-ranked Bulldogs.

Pregame coverage on the Grizzly Digital Network will begin at 2:45 p.m. with first pitch taking place at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets for Wednesday's game are $5 for adults, $3 for youth, seniors, and military, and free for children under five.  All members of the GGC community receive free admission with their Claw Card.  Season ticket packages are also on sale for all regular season contests.  For more information on ticketing, click here. Free game day parking is available in the deck at the entrance to the GGC campus.
