Box Score The nationally ranked Georgia Gwinnett College women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches with a 1-0 road victory against Middle Georgia State University Sunday evening. The seven consecutive unbeaten matches is a new record for the program.
Junior Ellinor Bertilsson found the back of the net with an unassisted goal in the 43rd minute. She tallied her second collegiate goal Sunday.
"Ellinor got a good first touch off a clearance and drilled it from nearly 30 yards out," said Head Coach Dr. Mike Giuliano on Bertilsson's goal.
GGC, ranked No. 24 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, held an 11-9 shot advantage in the match with seven shot attempts on goal. The team won for the sixth time during the seven-match unbeaten streak.
The Grizzlies recorded their fifth shutout of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Sophie Hoare made three saves in the victory, all coming in the second half.
"Sometimes you win games because you play beautiful soccer and other times you find a way to win. Good teams do both throughout the course of a season. Tonight, we found a way to win a game," stated Giuliano.
