Baseball Falls 13-2 to Madonna

March 5, 2015

Box Score

LAWRENCEVILLE - Alex Roberts had won every start of his season coming into Thursday's game against Madonna, but the senior would not be able to make it six in a row as the Georgia Gwinnett Baseball team fell 13-2 to visiting Madonna at Grizzly Baseball Complex.

Roberts, a native of Dalton, would not make it out of the third inning on Thursday, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits over 2.1 frames to drop to 5-1 as a starter. Those runs would prove to be all the visitors from Michigan would need as Crusader pitcher Adam Prashad proved to be effective, striking out 12 and allowing four hits and a pair of scores over six innings of work.

With the loss, GGC saw its streak of eight consecutive victories snapped, and the team now sits at 16-4. Madonna, who had lost a one-run game to Lindsey Wilson to open play on Thursday, improved to 6-4.

William Paschal was the lone standout in a Grizzly line-up that collected five hits on the day, and the junior out of Norcross finished the night 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Kyler Timmerman also starred, ending 1-for-4 and knocking in both GGC scores.

For the Crusaders, Ryan Lambracht did most of the heavy lifting, going 4-for-5, and Levi Larmour made a habit of bringing runners home as he enjoyed a 3-for-4 outing with three RBIs.

GGC will return to action at Grizzly Baseball Complex on Friday evening against Lindsey Wilson, and first pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
