TALLADEGA, Ala. - Davis Adkins and Tyler Oglesby each picked up wins on Saturday as the fifth-ranked Georgia Gwinnett baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Talladega with 9-6 and 8-4 victories at Silsby Baseball Field.
The wins secured yet another series victory for the Grizzlies, which improved to 30-6 on the year. The series was the first of the season away from the friendly confines of Grizzly Baseball Complex and helped GGC become the fifth-fastest team to 30 victories on the season, joining Oklahoma Baptist (30-2), Tabor (32-4), The Master's (31-7) and Faulkner (32-6).
Adkins made the start in the day's first game, tossing 5.2 innings to earn his third victory of the year, moving to 3-1. The start was just the second of his GGC career, and he struck out two and finished the afternoon with three earned runs.
In the day's second game, Oglesby enjoyed an impressive outing, striking out seven in 6.2 innings, surrendering just one earned run in the process. The victory took him to 4-0.
The day's offense was led by the school's all-time home run leader in Ty Abbott, who uncorked another one in the day's second game, which marked his team-best sixth of the season.
The Grizzlies will return to action on Monday with a trip to Georgia Regents, and first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
