Box Score

TALLADEGA, Ala. - The fifth-ranked Georgia Gwinnett baseball team returned to its winning ways on Friday afternoon, scoring double-digit runs for the 17th time this season in an 11-6 victory over Talladega at Silsby Baseball Field.

"It was a great offensive performance after the Faulkner loss," GGC Head Coach Brad Stromdahl said. "Roberts came in and threw strikes and solidified himself as a Friday night starter, and the defense played well behind him. It was a good team win for us, and now we'll come back and try for two more tomorrow."

Alex Roberts picked up his team-best seventh win of the season in the contest, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings of work and striking out four in the process.

Offensively, it was Arsenio Watlington who led the way as he enjoyed yet another three-hit outing, and freshman Brady Shoppe put the game out of reach for the hosts in the eighth with a two-run blast, his first career home run for the Green and Gray.

With the win, GGC improved to 28-6 on the year, and TC fell to 14-13.

Saturday's doubleheader will begin at noon, and the second game will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
