MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Georgia Gwinnett baseball team saw its seven-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday as the fifth-ranked Grizzlies fell 10-0 to No. 2 Faulkner at Harrison Field.
The Grizzlies were held to six hits on the day as the Eagles became the first team in the NAIA to register 30 wins this season, improving to 30-5. GGC dropped to 27-6.
Robert Llera put the Eagles on board with a three-run double to open up the scoring in the third, and then a four-run fifth effectively put the game out of reach as Ryan Minteer was pegged with his first loss of the season, allowing seven runs on six hits in 4.1 innings of work.
GGC will make another trip to Alabama later this week as they visit Talladega for a three-game set on Friday.
NOTES: GGC is 44-13 all-time in the month of March ... The Grizzlies are 0-4 all-time vs. Faulkner and 2-5 vs. the state of Alabama after picking up a series victory over Talladega earlier this season ... After weather complications canceled games with both Georgetown and Cumberland, Faulkner will be the only team that the Grizzlies will play this season that also participated in the 2014 Avista-NAIA World Series.
