GREENVILLE, S.C. - Nikki LeFevre had a night to remember on Tuesday, playing a role in four different goals as the Georgia Gwinnett women's soccer team beat Bob Jones 6-0 at Alumni Field.
LeFevre, a sophomore from McDonough, doubled her goal output for the season, scoring twice and then setting up two more to lead the Grizzlies (5-5) to their second 6-0 road victory on the year. Joining her in the scoring column were both Amy Morland and Jaclyn Bailey, who each notched their first career goals for GGC, and Mackenzie Bailey and Bethany Johnson, who registered their first goals of the season.
"Nikki had a lot of energy, and when we brought her off the bench, she was exactly what we needed," GGC Head Coach Domenic Martelli said. "She played great, but as a coach, having so many different people scoring will always make you very happy. It was good to get some people who we'd been missing over the last few weeks on the scoresheet, and we had a chance to get everyone involved."
A nine-minute flurry midway through the first half put the game out of reach for BJU (6-3-1) as Morland found the back of the net in the 25th minute off a LeFevre feed for the first goal. However it would be LeFevre's turn to shine two minutes later, cashing in on a Sara Lindell set up, and then she struck again in the 34th as Mackenzie Bailey and Mary Vernetti combined to facilitate the score.
In the second half, LeFevre repaid Mackenzie Bailey's favor in the 68th, who in turn logged her second assist on the night on Jaclyn Bailey's 73rd-minute strike.
Bristol Countess fed Bethany Johnson for the match's final tally just over 15 seconds from the whistle.
Magaly Gutierrez played a full 90 minutes in goal for the Grizzlies to earn the shutout, but she wasn't busy as the Green and Gray out-shot the hosts 28-2. BJU put one shot on target.
GGC will return to action next week as Point and Cumberlands will visit Grizzly Soccer Complex.
