Sophomore Ibrahima Sissoko buried his second game winning goal in three days as the Georgia Gwinnett men’s soccer team knocked off its second ranked opponent of the week in a 3-2 overtime victory against SCAD Savannah Friday night in Hardeeville, S.C.

The Grizzlies (5-2) used two first half goals from senior Rene Enang to open a 2-0 lead before outlasting the 24th-ranked Bees (2-1) on their home field.

The victory ended a four-game, three-state road trip for GGC as the Grizzlies captured three wins.

Enang is now tied for a team high with three goals this season while Sissoko’s two scores have been good for victories over #16 Auburn Montgomery and SCAD.

Friday marked the second one-goal victory for GGC over SCAD in two years. The two teams will play once more this season, Nov. 2 in Lawrenceville.

“The game tonight really was a war of attrition,” said GGC head coach Steve DeCou. “Playing our fourth game on the road in seven days, we were running on empty a bit but we found a way to get it done.”

The Grizzlies are off from competition for the next three days, returning to home action Tuesday against Reinhardt at 5 p.m.
