Four players had a multi-hit game as the Georgia Gwinnett baseball team belted its way to a 10-4 victory to win the series finale Sunday at Thomas University.
The Grizzlies (25-16) snapped a three-game skid by scoring in each of the game’s final five innings, erasing an early 4-1 hole.
Antonio Allen, Phillip Bates and Sloan Strickland each drove in a pair of runs for GGC while Tyler Carpenter struck out seven batters over eight innings on the mound to earn his second win of the year.
Thomas (19-19) struck once in the first inning and three times in the third.
Pat Long’s RBI single in the fifth keyed three straight two-run innings for the Grizzlies.
Jereid Woods had an RBI hit in the sixth before Strickland drove in two with a double in the seventh.
Georgia Gwinnett also capitalized on five Night Hawks errors on the day.
Payne knocked an RBI double in the eighth while Bates followed with one of his own in the ninth as the Grizzlies finished off the scoring with two in the final inning.
Joe Albertson finished the game for GGC and helped to keep Thomas off the board after the third inning.
Coach Brad Stromdahl’s squad remains on the road with a 3 p.m. game Tuesday at Toccoa Falls College before visiting North Georgia College Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Grizzlies are next at home Saturday against Emory University.
