Despite taking a two-run lead in the first inning, the Georgia Gwinnett baseball team dropped an 8-3 decision at Thomas University in the second game of the teams’ three-game set.
Pat Long led GGC with a pair of hits but Thomas belted out 14 on the day and used a five-run sixth inning to earn the win.
The Grizzlies (24-16) suffered their third straight loss and second to the Night Hawks (19-18).
Robbie Payne provided an RBI double and scored on a passed ball as the Grizzlies led 2-0 in the first inning. Andrew Prater followed Sloan Strickland’s double with an RBI single in the sixth, but it was all the scoring the Grizzlies could muster on the day.
The teams finish their series Sunday with a 1 p.m. start in Thomasville.
