Box Score

Playing its fifth game in as many days, the Georgia Gwinnett baseball team was topped at Emmanuel College, 4-2, Monday afternoon in Franklin Springs, Ga.

The Grizzlies (9-6) offense was held to its second-lowest run total of the season, having scored three or more times in all but one game this season. Emmanuel moved to 11-7 on the year by snapping a five-game losing streak.

The loss was the Grizzlies’ 15th straight road game to begin their inaugural season as their home complex is finished on campus.

“It was a battle today,” said Grizzlies head coach Brad Stromdahl. “We’ve been on the road a long time but we need to find a way to fight harder and scratch out runs.”

Freshman left-hander Frank Warren pitched into the fifth inning for the Grizzlies, who managed a 2-2 tie after falling behind early.

“Today we just couldn’t come up with enough baserunners and we have to tip a hat to Emmanuel’s pitching performance," Stromdahl added. "Christian Van Camp hit the ball well again today and Tyler Carpenter was strong on the mound.”

The Grizzlies’ showdown planned for Tuesday against Montreat College (N.C.) has been postponed and the team will have four days off before facing Rochester College (Mich.) on Saturday.
