Baseball Earns No. 1 Seed for NAIA’s Lawrenceville Bracket

The Grizzlies will play the winner of No. 5 seed Saint Xavier (Illinois) and No. 4 seed Talladega (Alabama) on Monday, May 12 at 7 p.m.
The Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team has earned the No. 1 seed for the five-team Lawrenceville Bracket of the 2025 NAIA Opening Round taking place Monday, May 12, through Thursday, May 15, at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.

GGC is hosting a national tournament site for the 10th time in program history and fourth straight season. The Grizzlies have won the Lawrenceville Bracket seven times, including each of the past six times that they were a tournament host.

Joining Georgia Gwinnett College in the Lawrenceville Bracket will be No. 2 seed Keiser University (Florida), No. 3 seed University of Houston-Victoria (Texas), No. 4 seed Talladega College (Alabama), and No. 5 seed Saint Xavier University (Illinois).

Play in the double-elimination tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 12, with Talladega facing Saint Xavier at 11 a.m., followed by a contest between Keiser and Houston-Victoria at 3 p.m. As the top-seed, GGC will wait until 7 p.m. that first night to play the winner of the Talladega/Saint Xavier game.

The Grizzlies (49-4, ranked No. 2 nationally) are making their 11th trip to the NAIA national tournament. They earned an automatic bid after winning the Continental Athletic Conference tournament title by defeating Fisher College (Massachusetts) 30-0. The team brings a 14-game winning streak into NAIA postseason play.

Keiser (35-15, receiving votes nationally) was at an-large selection after advancing to the championship game of The Sun Conference tournament before losing to Webber International University (Florida).  

Houston-Victoria (38-15, ranked No. 14 nationally) also was at an-large selection to the 46-team tournament field from the Red River Athletic Conference. The Jaguars won 26 of their 30 home games this spring.

Talladega (42-12) enters postseason play on a 14-game winning streak after winning the HBCU Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Tornadoes defeated Southern University at New Orleans (Louisiana) 8-3 on Sunday to capture the tournament title.

Saint Xavier (31-22) swept through the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament to automatically qualify for this year's Opening Round. The Cougars defeated Judson University (Illinois) 6-0 last Saturday in the conference's championship game.
